Book Fair/Lunch with a Loved One

Care Club
Chair:   Mark Haggarty
Description:  

A community service club that encourages students to make a difference to people and animals in need. Care Club supports a variety of local organizations through drives (toy, food, book), lunch hour activities, and visits from organization representatives. Care Club hosts a Ravinia School table at Highland Park’s MLK Day celebration, as well as a dedicated day of service; content and supplies for this event will be provided by Kindness Connection; Care Club simply coordinates. 

 
District 112 Foundation Liaison

This person helps to promote the annual Fun(d) Run and speaks about the Scholarship Foundation at school Open House events.

Library Liaison

Description:  

Coordinate collection of Birthday Book donations from parents. The school librarian takes care of having children select the books on their birthday and place a commemorative book plate in it.

Room Parents
Chair:   Julie Campbell, Julie Sollinger
Description:  

Manages the pool of room parents. Manage sign up process for parents to sign up for room parent for their classroom (manage lottery process if necessary or recruit additional volunteers as needed). Meet with PTO Exec Board to anticipate needs or requests for assistance for coming school year. Host Room Parent Orientation as early in school year as possible. Organize master list of room parents and assigned responsibilities. Update Handbook for distribution to room parents. Provide room parents guidance in collecting funds, planning classroom parties and events, and communicating classroom opportunities/activities to all parents/families of students in the classroom. Serve as main contact/liaison for staff and other committees of the PTO in coordinating volunteers for special event and projects. Coordinate collection of funds and purchasing of gifts for special teachers and staff in December and for year end. Maintain communication with Room Parents year-round

Work is concentrated in September.  Minimal time as needed throughout the year.

 
School Supplies
Chair:   Chelsea Duggan
Description:  

Organize the School Supply purchasing program that allows parents to order school supplies by grade level. The supply kits are offered for purchase online via an outsourced vendor. Kits are delivered directly to classrooms the week before school starts. Active times for this position are August: distributing school supply kits to classrooms; January: Organize updated supply lists from teachers and send to vendor; Early April: Set up online ordering link and notify parents through PTO newsletter that ordering period is open.

PLEASE NOTE: We are seeking a new chair person for this committee for the 2018/2018 school year.

 
Social And Hospitality
Chair:   Amy Scher
Description:  

Organize something small for the teachers for the first day of school (bagels, fruit, etc.). Organize (order from a local restaurant) a meal for the teachers during fall conferences. Organize a potluck Teacher Appreciation luncheon.

 
Spirit Wear

Yearbook
Chair:   Amy Eisenberg, Laurie Wurster, Debbie Raff
Description:  

Assist with taking pictures throughout the year and making spreads for the yearbook.  Computer skills required.
